The Honey Maid Holly (Ilex x meserveae) is a striking broadleaf evergreen shrub that brings three-season interest to your garden — variegated blue-green foliage in spring and summer, small white flowers in spring, and glossy red berries that persist through winter, providing color and visual appeal even during the coldest months.

    Material: Live Holly shrub.

Size: Mature height 7–8 ft, crown spread 4–5 ft.

Color: Flowers: white; Berries: red; Foliage: blue-green with yellow margins.

    Age Group: Adults.

Additional Features: Hardy to USDA Zones 6-9, thrives in full sun to partial shade; requires a nearby male Holly variety for berry production; natural pyramidal shape needs almost no pruning to maintain its neat form; berries are a food source for wildlife in winter; suitable as a garden focal point, container plant, or foundation planting; evergreen leaves provide structure and color in the winter garden when most other plants have lost their foliage; tolerates clay and various soil types with ease.

Care Instructions: Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Water deeply once a week during the first growing season; established plants are moderately drought tolerant. Prune lightly in early spring to shape and remove any winter-damaged branches. To ensure berry production, plant a compatible male Holly within 50 ft. Mulch around the base to maintain soil moisture and acidity. Fertilize in early spring with an acid-forming fertilizer.
